Visiting Disney 100 Exhibition

As an animator I couldn’t have skipped the Disney’s 100 year anniversary exhibition in London. Visiting this exhibition has deffinately helped me reflect on my own animation practices. Learning about ther history as a company and about the work and life of Disney himself has been incredibly inspiring. What I was most impressed about was not just a single exhibit or object but the fact that they included such a broad variaty of items from oldschool animation tools to contemporary ones. For example, they had some very precious hand drawn frames, storyboards, consept arts; they also included their sound making techniques for their films and some props from their life action movies.

In terms of my own work I wish one day to be part of a highly skilled team such as Disney and to be able to work and create statement pieces and animation productions that would stay in time and would further inspire new generations.

Some ponts that got my attention:

I also enjoyed seeing that even when it comes to life action films or CGI films, the initial process of creating the story and visuals include oldschool work on paper, consepts, drawings and props. They touched upon every aspect of filmmaking in this exhibition but I’m sure they showed only very little % of their actual work, it’s a global massive company that’s been around for 100 years after all! Hopefully a piece of my own work will be part of their next anniversary exhibition! 🙂
